Welcome to City Hikes Animal Rescue & Education

City Hikes Animal Rescue & Education is the 501c3 nonprofit leg of City Hikes Dog Walking & Pet Sitting. We formed this nonprofit leg of our pet care business in response to the a real need in East Oakland, Ca. Our county shelter is understaffed and overworked. Almost everyday I see a lost dog on the streets and attempt a rescue. Many times I am successful and sometimes I am not. I am a lead member of NextDoor and everyday there is someone posting about a missing dog or a dog they found. The goal of City Hikes Animal Rescue & Education is to rescue pets right off of the streets of East Oakland, place them in foster care, and educate our communities about how they can be apart of the solution and not the problem.

Our process
1. Get a dog or cat off the streets or out of local shelters
2. Fill out a lost dog report with local shelter
3. Get dog into a foster until old or new family (adoption fee) is found
